Sanctuary Sweethearts Info

elton02aOur Sanctuary Sweethearts are animals that either have been with us a very long time or who are older dogs and cats. We also have some Sanctuary Sweethearts who have handicaps such as blindness or have illnesses which might require medication or special diet or care.

ALMOST ALL OF OUR SANCTUARY SWEETHEARTS ARE ADOPTABLE!!

However, when these animals are adopted some --not all--of them will have to be adopted into special homes. Each animal's story is written with its picture so that you have a chance to get to know them. We try to see every animal here as individuals with their own personalities. However, ALL of them do require the same things as far as food, shelter, vet care, and maintenance such as flea preventive.

The cost to maintain a dog at the shelter is approximately $100-$150 a month for care given by shelter employees, flea and heart worm preventive, food, treats, and occasional toys. Each dog also must also  have yearly booster shots and must be treated if they develop an illness or injury (such as an eye infection, cut, etc.)

If you see a heart at the beginning of an animal's story on this page, you'll know this is a special needs animal that requires special care and attention

WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY OR YOUR BUSINESS TO SPONSOR A DOG OR CAT THAT HAS NO BELOVED FAMILY OF ITS OWN. You can "virtually" adopt one of these animals --help us provide for it--and even visit occasionally if you like.  But, we don't expect one person or family to carry the entire cost of one animal.  We can pool resources and have three people, families, or businesses sponsor the same pet helping to reduce the cost of each monthly sponsorship.

Sponsorships will be $50 per month. You, your family, or your business can set up a recurring payment of $50 on our Donations Page or pay a one-time fee of $300 for 6 months or $600 for one year.  Either way, make sure to use the drop-down menu under "Campaigns" and choose Sanctuary Sweethearts.  Then, put the name of the animal you want to sponsor in the comments box.

If you choose to do a $50 per month recurring payment, we ask that you commit to at least six months since we will be making changes to our records, making purchases for the animals, and sending you updates about the pet you've chosen to sponsor.

We would also like to list you as one of the animal's sponsors and even put pictures of you, your family, your company logo, or your business employees in the article with the dog or cat you choose to help
.
You can become a hero to an animal who has no one to speak for him. You can help insure that this animal has a happy life no matter where he lives his days.

If you have chosen to sponsor an animal and have set up payment through our donations module to the right of this page, you are welcome to send us an email with a picture and description of the individual(s) that are helping to sponsor the animal.  Make sure the picture is at least 800 pixels on the long side so we have enough room to crop and re-size to fit in the article.

We ask for just one picture per sponsorship.  We are allowing 3 sponsors per animal, thus we will potentially need to put 3 sponsor pictures and descriptions with each animal.

Frisbee

frisbee02afrisbee01aFrisbee was brought to us about two years ago. She is about six or seven years old. Her family was going to put her down if we did not take her. Because she had not been socialized with people other than her family, she was terrified of her new surroundings. She growled and ran and acted very terrified. Eventually our people were allowed to go in and clean her kennel....they kept working with her, giving treats, etc., till she finally allowed our staff to walk her. Now she is even being walked by volunteers because she has come to accept that there are a lot of people in her life.

frisbee03aFrisbee is a sweet dog now, wanting her walks and play time. She also loves treats and toys. We are amazed by her progress. Sometimes people don't realize the trauma that affects a dog who has been in one home all its life and then is taken to strange surroundings and left with strange people. It is like dumping a two year old in a shopping mall.

Frisbee will be a great virtual buddy and you can visit her too! She is a beautiful, loving dog.
