mishaTwo years ago my mother and I were driving on Rt 60 in Barboursville when we spotted two pups dropped along the highway.  I had some errands to run and did not stop.  They were on my mind the whole time.  When returning home they were still there.  I turned around and parked along the highway.  They were about 3-4 months old.  There was food left by people and a dead deer carcass that they had been eating on.  They were shy of people and you could not get close to them.  I spent 30 hours along with family members and a few other people trying to catch the dogs.  They even had a Barboursville cop and Fire Department trying one Sunday.  We were able to catch Eli her brother but not Misha.

misha2The next morning after catching Eli we went back and there she was.  I sat on the ground tossing hotdogs at her and my brother in law was on the other side with a net.  Then a car pulls up and a woman gets out of her car with a cell phone to her ear and  scares her and over the bank she goes.  We were never able to get close to her after that.  Misha then disappeared from the area.

I went back several times looking for signs of her.  A month later I get a  call from Jennifer of Little Victories asking if I could go pick up a chow mix pup that had been hit around the State Police building along  Rt 60.  I was at work and could not go.  I spoke with Sue later that evening and she had just gotten to Animal Control in time to save  Misha's life.  They were getting ready to put her down because they thought she had a broken back since she could not stand up.  She was nothing but skin and bones.  Sue asked if I could go by the Vet's office to see if this was the same dog that I had tried so hard to catch.  It was Misha--who would have thought she would still be alive?

misha today 3Misha had a broken right rear leg and what was thought to be a dislocated left hip.  She had all of this fixed and spent a month in a kennel. She came to me as a foster pup a month later.  After having her with me for a few weeks I decided to adopt her.  She still was not doing very well on her left hip so I took her to the Vet and had an x-ray  done.  She actually had a broken femoral head that was rubbing her     pelvis.  She then had to have FHO surgery done.

This was all done by Little Victories.  Misha is a wonderful healthy dog  with a rear leg a little shorter than the other.  How could anyone toss two pups out like that in an area so dangerous and hard to get around in to try to save them.

Thank     God for Little Victories!
