We live in Idaho and found a dog on adoptapet.com that we wanted to adopt. We recently lost our 11 year old rescue dog to kidney issues. Lindsey was at the Winfield, WV shelter and was listed as "urgent" as they usually aren't able to keep the dogs there very long.
I contacted them and they put a hold on her to see if I could find a way to get her to Idaho. After much searching I found a Horse Rescue Site and a lady there led me to Melissa Nida & her husband who are volunteers for Little Victories. They agreed to pull Lindsey from the shelter and foster her until she got spayed and could travel to Idaho.
Lindsey had a ride from the Nida's home to Waverly, OH with two other Little Victories volunteers, Natalie Dyer & Mechelle Mullins. In Waverly, Lindsey got a ride to Columbus with a Paula from Transport Rescues to meet up with Trucker Tom who is with Truck-N-Paws, another transport group. He travels between New Jersey and Denver every other week and gives rides to rescue dogs that need to get to a new home or rescue. In Denver, Lindsey was overnighted with a wonderful gal that is a stewardess and is a volunteer with Pilots & Paws. She flew Lindsey to Spokane, Washington and the next morning we picked her up at the airport!
Everyone had a big part in saving Lindsey's life and getting her to her new home up north. We just couldn't have done it without all the wonderful volunteer groups and help from so many that worked on the internet to coordinate rides.
Thank you so very much for all those involved and all those that help others,
Sandy & Charlie Rogers and "Miley" (we changed her name because of all of the miles she traveled to get here)!
